SQUAT LUNGE COMBO
Layer 1
 Squat to the side, wide, left leg back
 Squat wide, right leg back
 Knee pressing out in the Squat
 Double time, squat, lunge, squat, lunge
 Back knee drops to 90 degrees
 Keep posture upright
 Add range, hop, step, hop, step
Layer 2
 Back to the Squat, step pattern
 Make it supernatural with the arms
 Chest lifted, core braced
 Feeling a little bit warmer
LOW HIGH COMBO
Layer 1
 Really simple, low run, high knees
 Come low, and a little higher
 If this is too much intensity, march low and
then pick up the knees
 Crank it up, just a little higher
 Let’s get nice and warm
Layer 2
 Keep running
 Great way to warm and prime your body for
the workout ahead
 Two more bursts – stay here or get the knees
up really high
ICE SKATER/RUN COMBO
Layer 1
 Skate to the side 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
 Hold and run

 Option: Take the range a little lighter

 Can go lighter, march, and turn to the back
 Can go bigger, side and then bend your knee
COACHING TIPS
This song has a cruisy, light feel to connect
participants to the workout ahead. Warmup 1 is
designed to progressively warm up the muscles
using different planes of movement.
With the introduction of the High Knee Run, it is
essential to role-model the high and low options.
Also, coach the options of the Step or Jump
Forward to Heel Curl instead of the Scorpion Tail
and Mountain Climber. This introduces all levels
of intensity to ensure everyone in the class feels
included and it sets the tone to ensure everyone
can work out at their own level.
It should always be your goal to use simple Layer
1 coaching, naming the exercise, and using bodypart
and direction cues so the class can follow
successfully.
Increasing the range of motion in the Skater will
give participants a choice to elevate their heart
rates even more.
Remember to coach the benefits of warming,
prepping and priming the body to gear up
physically for the workout ahead.
It is a great opportunity to use a conversational,
upbeat voice and attitude, setting the scene that
LES MILLS TONE is fun and functional!
